Policing   in Lakshadweep ( the then Laccadive, Minicoy,    Amindivi   Islands)     commenced    on   22 - 11 - 1958       with   establishment   of the first Police station at Minicoy which was manned  by  a  strength   of    one   Sub   Inspector,   2   Head constable    and  5  constables  consisting   of  3 deputationists  and  Ex-Servicemen  from Kerala state.
